My kind of town

I'm moving to Chicago! You heard it first here! Actually you probably didn't. At least some of you. But I've been given the middle school science position at Roseland Christian School on Chicago's South side. Yes, it is kinda ghetto, and no, I'm not going to become a White Sox fan. I get to teach there next year with one of my best friends, who will be a third grade teacher. I'm really excited about moving to a new place and getting into public transit and things. I've also already begun romanticizing about how my students are going to plant a garden in the middle of Chicago's South side and the community will come around the kids and stop hating each other and the Roseland neighborhood will be a beacon to the world of love and harmony. Or something.

That's really about it. This is huge news for me, but it's pretty simple. I hope the rest of y'alls are doing well! Tell me what's new with you. :)

that's great, bethany. i hope all of your dreams come true in chi-town (although, being the semi-realist that i am, they won't. sorry. good luck, anyway).

ha! r. charles. You semi-realist, you. But congratulations bethany! You will like Chicago. BUT, don't get too excited about their public transit. It sucks. The rest, I think, is pretty neat. AND, I taught on the southside, too. Not in roseland, But in Kenwood. AND roseland is a cool neighbourhood. and I think carolyn's sister goes to a crc church in roseland. And it is a neat church. AND hyde park is on the southside. that is also cool. and the pullman area. Is that in roseland? ANYWAY. the point is: HURRAH! You go garden girl. built unity and love in the dark depths of shady-town chicago.

Thanks Katy! Thanks a lot! Pullman is just south of Roseland. I will plant a garden. Poo to r. charles.

I figure around 1 out of 3 dreams will come true. That's a pretty good batting average

Captain Haak! Congratulations! I'm really glad you got that job, your dry humor and unrelenting wit is going to blast Chicago's Christian schools into the 22nd century.

Also, I never got over how funny it was that Chi-Town can be pleasantly mis-pronounced as Shitown... but you didn't hear it from me. As far as that town knows, we left on good terms.

Best of luck to you, not that you need it. I have great confidence in you.
